“Turn left up at that boulder…” Shizu had the old map Tsunade gave the group held out in front of her. She was studying it carefully, as to make sure she didn’t make any wrong turns and screw everything up. Sasuke was already tiring…probably because of the fact that he hadn’t gotten any sleep the past two nights.
…And Naruto…He was bored out of his mind. Being the only one with no job to perform, the blonde was trudging along the pathway with his arms crossed.
“Argh! How long ‘till we get there?!” The anxious boy complained to no one in particular. Kotori turned around to him, rolling her eyes.
“Naruto…We’ve only been walking for a few hours. We’ll set up camp soon, but we won’t arrive in the hidden cloud village for another day at least.” She sighed and ran her fingers through her lilac hair. “Just calm down and enjoy the walk for now, ok?” She smiled.
The blonde sighed and slumped down. He hated missions which took more than a day just to get to the location. “Agh! WHY?!”
“Naruto, shut it.” An annoyed Sasuke gave him an Uchiha death glare. Shutting the boy up immediately.
“Hmpf…Taku…” Naruto sighed and contemplated for a short moment, suddenly seeming to grin out of nowhere. Suddenly he knew how to entertain himself. “Oh, I’m so scared, Mr. grumpy-butt.” The blonde teased. Sasuke, who was all the way at the front and leading everyone, stopped in his tracks. This, causing each member in the chain of confused shinobi to run into the person in front of them.
“S-Sasuke? What the hell?” Kotori barked. Sasuke simply ignored her and glared at Naruto.
“I thought I told you to shut it, Uzumaki.” He growled. Naruto smirked and took a step towards to Uchiha. He was pleasingly entertained with Sasuke’s reactions to his comments.
“Geez, Sasuke. What crawled up your ass this morning?” The blonde exclaimed. The three Kunoichi slowly stepped out of the boys’ way. Unlike Naruto, they at least knew better than to get in Sasuke’s way when he’s pissed.
“That’s it, Naruto. You just crossed the line.” Sasuke was about ready to rip the blond’s smug face off. He pulled out a kunai and positioned himself for an attack, when something sinister awoke inside him. A dark and sinister voice roared inside Sasuke head.
“Kill…” It growled.
‘What?’
“Do you despise this child?”
‘Wha? N-no, I just need to teach him a les-’
“Kill”
‘Wh-what?’
“Kill the boy.” The strange voice repeated.
‘No, what am I thinking? I can’t kill him!?’
“You know, deep inside, you want this boy dead.”
‘No I don’t!’
“Kill the boy…Slaughter him…Kill-”
“SHUT UP!” The Uchiha screamed. Everyone looked at him like he was insane.
“S-Sasuke…” Kotori ran back over to him. “Are you feeling alright?” She placed her hand on his forehead, checking for a fever. Still staring at Naruto, the Uchiha huffed and pushed it off.
“Hn…I’m fine…” He muttered. Turning back around and continuing down the pathway. The rest of the group followed, silently.
----------
“Uh…hey, guys?” Hikari shouted from the back. “Do ya think we should be setting up camp soon?”
“Yeah, that’s a good idea.” Kotori agreed, stopping and taking off her pack. The team leader stopped and sighed.
“Alright then…” Sasuke said, leaning on a tree.
“Finally!” Naruto exclaimed, practically collapsing on the ground. They five of them had been walking for nine hours straight, only stopping to eat once. Sasuke stood back up.
“Ok, Kotori and Shizu. I need you two to set up tents, alright?”
“Hai, Sasuke-Kun.” Kotori sighed.
“Good. Naruto, go look for some firewood.”
“Fine.” He growled.
“Hikari, you’re coming with me to catch something for dinner.”
“A-alright.” She agreed.
---------
The two shinobi leisurely walked through the increasingly dark woods. No one had uttered a word since they left the campsite. The only noise was the crunching of the forest floor beneath their feet.
“Your family.” Sasuke suddenly said. Hikari turned her head to him.
“Hm?”
“What’s it like.”
Hikari looked down. “M-my family…I don’t know, actually.” She replied. Sasuke raised an eyebrow. “My parents…they died when I was a young child…And I never really got to meet any of my relatives. So I don’t know.”
“Oh…”
“What about you?”
“Huh? Oh, you didn’t ever hear about the Uchiha massacre?” Hikari shook her head. “Hn…” He sighed. “My entire family was slaughtered when I was around seven years old.”
“Really? That’s…terrible…”
“So, Kotori’s kinda the only family you’ve got, huh?” Sasuke turned to the inquisitive Kunoichi, He actually found her very interesting.
“…Yeah…eh, sorta…Well, besides my older brother.” He smirked.
“Older brother?” The boy nodded. “What’s he like?” Hikari asked. Sasuke thought for a moment.
“Hmmm, Well-”
SHUK
“Whoa!” Sasuke grabbed Hikari, narrowly dodging the swing of a sword that seemingly came out of no where. Panting and on the ground, Sasuke watched as a figure slowly emerged from the darkness of the forest. It was staring at the pair with sinister red eyes. Sasuke Narrowed his which too, turned blood red.
“What’s my older brother like…” He muttered. “That.” Hikari stared, wide eyed at the person before her. “The one who killed my entire clan.”
“Sh-shit…” She uttered.
“Itachi!” Sasuke roared. “What the hell do you want?!” The said person just glared back at his younger sibling, silent.
“I want the girl.” He replied.
