“Y-you want……” Sasuke narrowed his eyes. “…Hikari?” The said person slowly backed behind Sasuke in attempt to protect herself. “Don’t touch her.” Sasuke intensely warned.
“Hmmm….That doesn’t really work out on my terms.” Itachi had his arms crossed. “Would you rather I took her by force? Or are you going to run at me and yell like you did last time?” The younger Uchiha huffed at what Itachi said.
“Stay away. I’m warning you.” Sasuke held him arms out to try and block Hikari from his older brother, taking a slow, deep breath. “Hikari…” She looked up at him. “…I need you to run back to the campsite.” He flinched when Itachi took a step toward him. “Get help.” The girl, in response looked extremely hesitant, shaking. If she was what Itachi wanted, he’d go after her as soon as he caught sight of her leaving. But if she left and got away… Sasuke might die. It’d be her fault for not being there in time. “Akiyo!” She snapped out of her reverie at the resonance of her last name. “I’ll hold him off. Don’t worry.” The Uchiha said reassuringly. He was still staring intently at Itachi, never taking his eyes off of the adversary. But Hikari saw something else in her comrades blood red eyes.
Trust.
Hikari took a deep breath. “I-I’ll be back…I promise…” She countered, running off as fast as she could. Itachi, seeing her flee, abruptly took off after her. Sasuke instantly skidded between the two, shoving his sword at Itachi’s chest, who blocked it with his own. The pair of weapons locked together, and there were literally sparks flying from the friction they caused, the metal rubbing hard against itself. The brothers were still staring straight into each other’s eyes, both filled with hatred.
“Move Sasuke!” Itachi roared, pushing him backwards. The younger Uchiha wobbled, almost falling off balance, gathering his strength he pushed back, hard.
“No…” He growled, still holding his ground. Itachi narrowed his eyes and pushed harder.
“Sasuke, Get out of my way…This has nothing to do with you!”
“No!” Sasuke roared, brutally ramming his forehead against his older brothers. They both fell back, blood dripping down their brows. Sasuke was still glaring at Itachi, struggling to keep balance. ‘Don’t… fall.’ he said to himself ‘Don’t…give him any…advantage…’
“You…” Itachi growled, rubbing his head. “Damn you…”
“Itachi. Give it up.” He smirked, still slumped down from the impact. “She’s probably a mile away by now.”
“Dammit, No!” Itachi immediately shot towards Sasuke. The boy tried to stab him, missing his target and collapsing. Itachi had hit the back of Sasuke’s neck at lightning speed as he passed, leaving the younger Uchiha vulnerable and alone on the ground.
-----------
“Crap! It’s so dark!” Hikari muttered to herself as she frantically searched for the campsite. She stopped, taking a good look at her surroundings. “Dammit! Sasuke’s trusting me to help him! I need to …Uchih-” The flinched and looked upwards and through the dark leaves of the silhouettes of the trees. The crescent moon was above her and he body was changing. “No…” She cried. “No…No…NoNoNoNoNoNo!!” She started shaking. “Th-this can’t be happening! Not…Now…I…I…” She fell to the ground on her hands and knees, roaring and growling.
----------
Sasuke awoke a little over an hour later. He stood up as fast as he could and frantically looked around him for any sign of either Itachi or Hikari.
He was alone.
“D-Damn…!” a loud thud rang through the forest as Sasuke’s fist hit the ground. He stood on his hands and knees, panting. “I-I’ve got to find them…” He curled his talisman in his fist and closed his onyx eyes. “Canines are better and finding people…so maybe…” He looked at the charms in his palm and got out his daggers.
----------
“…You…” A dark voice came from the recesses of the forest. White creature, sniffing around, abruptly stopped in her tracks and froze, not even daring to breathe. Sweat ran down her head as the figure emerged, eye’s blood red. The white beast instantly crouched down and bounded for the dark silhouette, knocking it to the ground and standing on top of it.
“You’re alive! You’re alive!” The beast exclaimed.
“Zuki!? G-get off!” The other wolf smirked and stood, pushing her off. The white wolf sat and panted happily, tail wagging.
“Heh…Sorry…I thought you might have been…” Sasuke raised an eyebrow and the beast.
“…Dead?” He cut her off and smirked. “How did you know I was in trouble?”
“Eh…I just heard you were fighting your older brother and was probably in big trouble…”
Sasuke looked at her skeptically. “Really…” He said sarcastically. Zuki rolled her eyes.
“I have…connections…” She hesitated.
“…Connections…” He said, tilting his head and narrowing his eyes. “Well…? Let’s hear it.”
“You really want to know?” She smirked impishly. Sasuke smirked lunged for the wolf’s throat. Startled, Zuki dodged the assault, turned death black and transformed. The Uchiha growled menacingly at the figure.
“You really think I’m that stupid…Itachi?
“Hm…I never would’ve thought the great Tantou would be sealed inside my foolish little brother.” He smirked evilly. “But wolf or no wolf, you’re still not smart enough to defeat Uchiha Itachi.” He threw Sasuke against a tree, drew his sword and held it to the Uchiha’s neck.
“Geez…Talk about reminiscence.” Sasuke Smirked, looking at the weapon on his throat.
“You’re…” Itachi muttered and sighed. “You’ve got a sword to your throat and you’re kidding around.” He said dismally, rolling his eyes. “Where’s your friend…” He demanded.
“Tch…Why would I know?” Sasuke retorted. “You saw, well… you actually knocked me unconscious…but Hikari, she could be anywhere. I told her to run away, as far as she could and to never come back.” Extremely annoyed, Itachi snarled and pressed the blade harder. He was irritated at the fact that Sasuke was taking him lightly.
“You really expect me to believe that?” Itachi growled.
“Well, you are pretty dumb at times.” The wolf against the tree disappeared in a puff of smoke. Sasuke had Itachi from behind. His sword now against his older brother’s neck. “I’m not a wolf, for instance…” He said. Itachi slowly turned his head to his brother and scowled. Sasuke was standing right there in all his human glory.
‘That’s why he wasn’t taking me seriously…That damn wolf was a replication!’ Itachi thought to himself, frustrated. “Alright Sasuke…” Itachi sighed. “You win, for now.” He growled, disappearing in a puff of smoke.
“So, he was a clone too huh…Should’ a figured.” Sasuke rolled his eyes, sighing, and turned back into wolf form. Tantou’s nose, hopefully, will help him find Hikari. “First things first…Gotta go back to the campsite…Maybe she’s there.”
