Kotori gripped the sword hard, sweating. The Uchiha smiled sinisterly as he looked directly into the Kunoichi’s deep blue eyes.
“You don’t believe me, do you?” he laughed. “…I guess I’ll just have to show you then…” Itachi stood up, and his eyes turned bright red. But this wasn’t the normal Sharingan like Sasuke had. It looked almost like…a pinwheel. “Don’t look into his eyes…don’t look into his eyes!” Sasuke had told her about this before…it was…
“MangekyouSharingan!”
“Nooooo!” She cried. But Kotori’s eyes suddenly went blank. She fell on her knees, shaking violently and holding her head. “No…I…remember now…” The violet-haired Kunoichi knelt there, tears flowing down her cheeks. Sasuke, who was still trying to catch his breath, was lying against the wall. He struggled to stand as Itachi, taking the opportunity, suddenly charged at her. Terror-stricken when he realized he couldn’t move.
Itachi pulled a knife out of his red and black cloak. “Ha! You should be GLAD I killed the entire clan!” He laughed psychotically. Still unable to move, Sasuke watched, wide-eyed as his brother charged at the girl. Kotori on the other hand, seemed to be hopelessly lost in the day her clan was massacred.
“Kotori! You've got to snap out of it!” He desperately called. “Kotori!”
-----
The huge beam of flames sped directly towards Kisame. His beady eyes widened as he scrambled to get out of the way. The sunbeam flew past him at lightning speed as he narrowly dodged it, dispersing part of it with his chakra-consuming samehada. The remainder of the ray collided with the cave ceiling, causing a huge rockslide and shaking the entire cavern. Kisame sidled the wall, smashing several boulders the fell too close for comfort. Shizu too, hugged the wall for protection. One of the large rocks, however landed on her summon. With a loud roar, the beast disappeared in a puff of smoke.
-----
Startled by the loud rumbling and shaking further up, Itachi stopped dead in his tracks, just a few feet away from the trembling Kotori. He glared at the terrified girl for a moment, and then took off towards Kisame and Shizu.
Sasuke rest against the rock wall and breathed a sigh of relief as he watched his brother disappear into the darkness, sitting straight up when a huge animal soared over his head. He looked up as it landed next to Kotori. Stuffing her flute into her pack, she climbed on as it reared and roared. And holding onto its mane, she held her free hand out to him, Sasuke instantly held it and pulled himself up.
“Uma, Kouro! …Yah!”As fast as it appeared, it took off towards Itachi way on the other side of the cavern, weaving in between huge boulders that fell from above. Sasuke looked at his surroundings and then at Kotori, who was piloting the beast. “…The horse spirit?” He said to himself. It was so pure white in color that it appeared to give off a soft glow in the pitch black of the cave. Kotori was completely silent, still trying to accept the horrid sight Itachi had showed her. The two rode through the dark recesses, when suddenly all reality finally hit Sasuke.
“….O-k…I almost got killed by my older brother, whom I haven’t seen for years. But my sister saved me…who isn’t my sister because in reality we aren’t related. I’m riding bare-back on the zodiac horse spirit going 90 miles-per-hour through an almost pitch-black cave in the middle of nowhere, while huge boulders are falling at us randomly from the ceiling…Meanwhile Shizu and Kisame are both doing god knows what, way at the other end of the cave…which Itachi is bolting towards.”
The Uchiha shook his head trying to comprehend it all. Flinching as the horse narrowly evaded a massive rock. “Whoa!” he exclaimed as His gaze flew back behind them, he followed the boulder with his eyes as it smashed loudly on the cavern floor and faded away into the blackness.
It wasn’t long before Itachi, Kisame and Shizu all came into view. Still at full speed, Kotori jerked the horse to a stop just in front of the entrance, and it reared once again. The rockslide had blocked the opening to the cave. “Shit!” Sasuke muttered “…We’re trapped in a cave…with two S-ranked criminals…” He looked around for any possible way out.
Shizu, all of a sudden, bolted off towards the other end of the cave, where Sasuke and Kotori had just come from. On the horse, the two jerked around, bewildered.
“Wh-what!? Shizu, what the hell? ” Sasuke watched as the Kunoichi continued running.
“Kotori!” She called and she motioned them to follow. Kotori nodded her head in response and jerked her beast around.
“YAH!!” Trailing closely behind, they watched as the brown-haired Kunoichi bit her thumb, rapidly made hand signs, and pulled out a scroll from her back pouch. Wiping her blood down the paper, she shouted:
“Fire Style! Kunichyose No Jutsu! Shima!” As before, the tiger appeared, running along side her. Holding on tight, Sasuke glanced behind him, only to find Kisame and Itachi following farther behind the trio.
“Shizu! They’re behind us!” He yelled in retort, The Kunoichi narrowed her eyes and thought for a moment.
“Eh...Um, K-Kotori! Summon the Ram and the Ox!” The startled girl’s deep blue eyes focused on her thirteen-year old comrade.
“Hai!” Kotori called back then turned to the slate-haired sixteen-year old. “Sasuke, I need you to switch with me!” without a word, he nodded.
With Sasuke now in control, Kotori pulled out her flute and played. First, summoning the Ram zodiac, then the Ox. With the two beasts running along side Sasuke and Kotori on the spirit horse, and Shizu running farther ahead with her tiger summon, the trio was now in position for the thirteen-year-old Kunoichi’s plan.
“Shima!” She called out. Once again, the tiger gathered power in its mighty jaws, as it kept running along side her master. “Just a little longer….” She muttered.
It wasn’t long before they neared the dead end of the very back of the cave. Kotori and Sasuke were both wondering what Shizu was up to as they charged at the rock wall at full speed. “…Wait for it…”
“Shizu! The wall-”
“Yuuen Kasai Tama No Jutsu!” Instantaneously, the beast jumped several feet in the air and blasted the potent ray of fire and chakra straight at the rock face with the same attack she used on Kisame earlier. Her comrades shielded themselves as the back of the cave exploded. Shizu didn’t even stop and motioned them to follow her outside. She then abruptly stopped right in front of Sasuke and Kotori, causing the horse to rear again. Itachi and Kisame were coming into view from the shadows. “Kotori! Order the ram and Ox to bash shatter either side of the cave opening. We need to block the cavity so Itachi and Kisame will be trapped!”
“Hai!” She leapt off the horse and ran towards the cave. “Ohitsuji,Oushi Raishuu!!” she ordered. Roaring, the two beasts twisted themselves around and charged into either side of the cavern breach at full speed. Several huge pieces of the mountain broke off and crashed to the ground, shaking the earth around it. All that was left was a small opening at the top and Shizu smiled as she dashed over to it.
“Shima!” She pointed to the hole. The tiger stood over the hole as it built up more power in its mouth. But this time, it was a bright blue resembling Naruto’s “Rasengan” attack. “Water Style! Mizu Kadou No Jutsu!” Rather than fire, water detonated from the tiger’s forceful jaws, straight into the opening.
“Oh, shit!” A muffled voice from inside the cavern faded as the water poured inside.
-----
“…W-we did it…” Totally worn out, Shizu fell onto the grass, and lay on her back, panting. “Wow, Kotori, Sasuke, you guys were great!” she exclaimed. But there was no response from either of the two. Now that the excitement was over, the adrenalin rush was vanishing away and Sasuke was beginning to feel the affects of being brutally thrashed by his older brother. Also completely winded he fell on his hands and knees, panting. Shizu hurried over to him as he struggled to stand, she held out her hand to help him up. He looked up at her and smiled a little.
“Uh, Th-thanks…I’m fine…” He looked around “Um, wh-where’s Kotori-Chan?”
She was sitting under a tree, hugging her knees, and staring blankly at the ground. Sasuke sat down next to her.
“…You ok?” he asked. Kotori shook her head in response, still staring at the ground. Sasuke rubbed the back of his head; he knew what this was about. “Err…so, Shizu actually came in handy on this mission, huh?” He said, trying to change the subject.
“So it’s true…My entire family was murdered……by the Uchiha’s…” Sasuke closed his eyes. “You’re not my brother……we’re not even related…” Kotori glared at the boy, tears flowing down her face. “You knew… you knew about this all along, didn’t you?!”
“Hmm? Wh-wha?” He raised an eyebrow. The kunoichi just stood up, scowled at him and reached into her pack. “K-Kotori?! W-what are you- ” He stopped in mid sentence and looked up. Kotori was on her dragon, and it was arched straight at him. Snarling and drooling, a long, blood-stained katana in its mouth.
“How could you do something like that and never tell me? What did my clan ever act……J-just to be slaughtered like that?!” Kotori yelled.
Still bewildered, Sasuke slowly drew his sword and backed away, "Kotori! I-I didn't…”
“Tatsu! Raishuu!” In an instant, the dragon roared and charged. Not knowing what to make of this, Sasuke just stood there, frozen and shaking. The wild beast flew past him and blinding speed, ramming him in the chest and throwing him backward onto the rocky ground. His sword flew out of his hands and the dragon disappeared into the surrounding forest.
Cringing in pain, he laid there and looked up at the starry sky with saddened eyes, coughing up thick red blood. The way she looked at him, it was filled with so much hatred.
